Fishing competitions like the Los Cabos 2023 Sport Fishing Tournaments go on from summer into late fall. The Cabo Fishing Tournaments are among the most thrilling times in Cabo San Lucas because of the festivities and celebrations surrounding them. These events attract novice and experienced fishermen from around the world. Marlin, Dorado, Tuna, and Wahoo, are captured all year-round, but the tourneys give first-time competitors the opportunity to learn from, connect with, and make friends with, other more experienced competitors.
If you want to test your fishing skills, or simply watch the excitement in a friendly and stimulating setting, Cabo San Lucas is the place to be.
Despite the fact that these competitions can all be categorized as “Blue Marlin Tournaments”, you can still observe anglers catching a wide variety of tropical species.
Here’s a list of the major fishing competitions taking place in Cabo San Lucas this year:
****June, 2023****
8-11TH : Pelagic Triple Crown Summer Slam. Registration June 8th/General entry $3500
A popular annual competition, the Pelagic Triple Crown of Fishing Summer Slam features four classes: billfish, tuna, wahoo, and dorado. Teams can compete for awards and prize money worth more than $500,000 this year. The competition is a focus on Cabo’s renowned yellowfin tuna and world-class striped marlin. But there are also substantial cash prizes for the largest dorado and wahoo.
***August, 2023***
3-5TH : Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore 2023. Registration Date: August 2, 2023
With a purse totaling over a million dollars, along with hefty prizes, this competition is considered the world’s richest fishing tournament (the payout in 2006 was $4.1Million – the largest in sportfishing history). Each Team must pay a $1,500 entrance fee (and more if they wish to participate in daily challenges and cash awards). Prizes are given to those who catch the most billfish (black, blue, and striped marlin), tuna, and dorado.
The honors from the previous year, however, totaled more than a million dollars, so the prizes are still sizable. By participating in the tournament’s Early Bird Drawing, first-timers have an opportunity to enter free of charge.
