Jan 29, 2022:
Currently in Los Cabos, there are 7,070 active Covid Cases. Not all, of course, are in hospital, since with omicron, home care is appropriate. In all of BCS, there have been a total of 2568 deaths due to covid, and 76,270 recovered cases.
For the second consecutive week, the state of Baja California Sur increased its alert level to 3 (yellow)in all five municipalities in the state.
The latest restrictions for level 3 – yellow – call for 60% to 70% maximum occupancy in retail establishments and restaurants, and 40% occupancy where alcohol is sold in open containers such as bars, nightclubs, party boats, etc
During the most recent press conference the State’s deputy director of Epidemiology, Miguel Romero Calderón, said that the number of confirmed active cases continue to increase, with the most new cases registered last week.
We are seeing a minimum of 1 cruise ship per day, and more often than not, 2 and frequently 3 ships in harbor. In addition, there have been up to 165 FLIGHTS into Cabo on an almost daily basis. This brings thousands of tourists into our streets here in Cabo, and we do see many of those visitors without masks, but with the weather continuously sunny and in the mid-high 80’s, most residents do not feel there is a danger, and locals actually appreciate the business. Remember, we are a tourism-based resort area. Keep in mind as well, if our jump in omicron is due to transmittal by visitor, those visitors are also transmitting amongst themselves on board ship or plane.
Los Cabos has implemented a COVID-19 testing program to support visitors’ seamless navigation to comply with testing requirements for their return destination as needed. Antigen testing is available at all hotels, villas and timeshares, as well as the Los Cabos International Airport for emergency situations. The PCR test is administered at specific locations, including hospitals and laboratories. You can locate one near your hotel (and sometimes IN your hotel) by simply asking the concierge personnel.
