Viva Mexico! Independence Day Sept 16!
Well, How are we doing after 6 months of Covid lockdown? Now that half the mom-n-pop shops have closed down permanently in this “touristic” economy. I guess we’d have to admit we’re doing well, thank you! Better than many others, I suppose. Viva Mexico!
We are a Cabo Strong community, even in Covid lockdown.
After Hurricane Odile, our community went through a similar rebuilding phase (except that, of course, was literal), and adopted the wonderful and long-living shout “Cabo Strong”. As is normal in all smaller communities, (and just as after Odile), everyone’s come together to aid and assist. There are probably a dozen plus charitable organizations that have come to the front lines of disaster to provide food, clothing, shelter. So many people have lost everything because of mandated Covid lockdown. And, like many other communities, one disaster fed off another, wreaking complete havoc on so many lives with the arrival of Genevieve, one of our first storms of the season that made a difference in our landscape.
As in past storms, almost 1km of sandy beach was swept into the ocean.
But, in truth, we were all awed by the disappearance of beach from the Arch (Divorce Beach) all the way to Finisterra Resort on the Pacific side of land’s end. In my attempts to look at the ‘brighter picture’, let’s give it a couple more weeks. By then, our desert landscape will be awesomely refreshed with greens and brilliant flower color!
According to our Gringo Gazette, we’re doing well.
Though cruise ships have, again, delayed a return to our gorgeous shore, Westjet is resuming flights in/out, and hotel reservations are literally pouring in. American Airlines is expanding it’s presence, offering flights from New York, Austin and Sacramento. Covid lockdowns must be softening somewhere! In addition, our beaches are open both sides of the peninsula. However, there’s a limit of 30 percent of the square meters area, so come on weekdays! Weekends are difficult and reach capacity quickly, and the uniformed services are patrolling, and not afraid to throw you into the caboose for disobeying a vacate order!
All in all, people may be just fed up enough to head south (and/or any other direction) as quickly as possible just to get out of their locked down dodge. We’ll be here waiting for you!! Looking for upcoming activities scheduled, or discount tickets? Check out our Cabo Living page!
